Our own opinion: Football is a universal language, but is it a peaceful one under such circumstances? We think that every worker should be treated fairly and not like a slave without any rights! Before you go and enjoy watching a football match in a stadium we should think about what's going on behind the scene!
World Cup: In 2022 the FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar - in a country which isn't famous for its football reputation but for its wealth. But who builds the stadiums? Where do the workers come from? Are the workers treated fairly by the government?
Stadiums: The teams play in 8 stadiums. Only one Stadium is going to be modernized and the other seven stadiums are getting build new. The Government has to pay 26.6 Billion Euros for the building of the stadiums.
Workers: Most of the workers are migrant workers from Asian countries and they are treated like slaves. The workers are underpaid for their hard work. Those people even have to work during middays when the temperature reaches 50 degree Celsius in the shadow. Most of the workers come from Nepal and India. Some workers died at work, due to the heat, or because of falling constructions or heart attacks.
