What is child labour?
Child labour is the employment of children in an industry or business.
These children have to work in plantations, mines, or will become domestic workers.
Not all work done by children is classed as child labour. There is not an issue when a child is working to progress their life skills without compromising their health, their well-being or their education.
How many children are affected by child labour?
Worldwide, many children are affected by child labour.
152 million children worldwide are victims of child labor; 88 million are boys and 64 million are girls.
48 percent of all victims of child labor are aged 5-11 years.
Why have children to work by child labour?
Young persons who worked as children (up to the age of 15) are more likely to be in low-paying jobs.
In Africa, parents sell their children, often for livestock.
From disadvantaged backgrounds, minority groups, or abducted from their families, these children have no protection.
Many children are also sold to work in textile factories as well as to cover family debts.
What are the bad effects of child labour?
In certain cases, child labour also endangers a child’s dignity and morals, especially when sexual exploitation is involved, such as prostitution and child pornography.
Furthermore, a child who works will be more exposed to malnutrition. These children are often victims of physical, mental, and sexual violence.

Our own opinion:
We say child labour is bad because instead of them working the children should go to school. Children are not meant for working at such a young age. They should be given education and a child hood. They don't need to be adults right away! They should have time to play with their friends instead of working! Moreover, children need the support of their parents to be well
prepared for their future and this future should be a bright one, but without enjoying education, receiving
love from their families and respectful treatment form all grown-ups this will not be possible!
